ÉS Bisztró, the popular Hungarian–Viennese bistro and steakhouse at Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest, has completed a comprehensive ‘reset’. The establishment, which reopened on 27 March 2026, now presents a brighter, more welcoming interior by Ákos Bara, alongside a menu that delivers its familiar flavor profile with enhanced precision and refinement. This transformation reinforces the bistro’s identity, focusing on offering a more considered and consciously structured experience.

Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest is pleased to announce the successful reopening of ÉS Bisztró, its signature Hungarian–Viennese bistro and steakhouse, following a deliberate ‘reset’ period. This transformation represents the culmination of five years of extensive hotel renovations and developments, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of the hotel’s Gastronomic Quarter Downtown Budapest concept.

The comprehensive reimagining, led by interior designer Ákos Bara, was undertaken to bring every element closer to its original essence – cleaner, simpler and more precise – rather than to introduce a new identity. The revitalized space now combines relaxed comfort with refined elegance, creating an environment that is brighter, cleaner and more welcoming. In line with a commitment to local craftsmanship and sustainability, the project focused on refurbishing existing high-quality furniture to ensure it remains an integral part of the refreshed interior, with all work carried out by Hungarian specialists. Visually, the space is enriched by a curated selection of portraits adorning the walls, paying tribute to emblematic figures of Hungarian and Central European culture, and reinforcing a sense of artistic tradition, intellectual heritage and timeless elegance.

The culinary concept continues to draw inspiration from the rich gastronomic heritage of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, celebrating classics such as Wiener Schnitzel and Tafelspitz. The menu, curated by Chef de Cuisine Gergely Kovács and his team, retains its well-loved flavor profile while presenting each dish with enhanced precision and a heightened attention to detail and proportion. The dining experience is now more consciously structured, while remaining effortlessly natural.

Beyond the main dining area, particular emphasis has been placed on enhancing the outdoor experience, including the refurbishment of the two-storey terrace overlooking Fashion Street, which serves as a vibrant summer destination. ÉS continues to be a popular meeting point, seamlessly bridging Budapest and Vienna, tradition and modernity, and remains an enduring favorite among Budapest residents, as well as a delightful discovery for first-time visitors.
